NVC TRAINING INSTITUTE OFFERS:

THE LIVING ENERGY
OF NEEDS

With Robert Gonzales, Susan Skye,
Wes Taylor, Jeff Brown, Gregg Kendrick and Gina Lawrie

Our core seven-day intensive workshop on "The Living Energy of Needs" supports the ongoing development of foundational Nonviolent Communication (NVC) skills with an underlying ability to practically access and live from a founding trainersdeeper dimension of needs. We weave the experience of the living energy of needs throughout the training, as the core dimension from which we learn and live the NVC process.

The NVC Training Institute (NVCTI) was established in the year 2000 to meet needs in our global NVC community for the learning of more advanced skills as well as support for trainer development. As we have worked together over the years, we have significantly evolved our program. Our collaboration and the deep acknowledgment and appreciation for this training have been very rewarding.

New workshops:

In the Spring of 2009, we evolved the structure of our "Living Energy of Needs" workshop based on recent feedback and on our own desire to better align the content with the current focus of our work.

The changes include the following:

  • Inclusion of sessions on extending a needs-based consciousness into groups and communities. We especially want to bring awareness of our own learning community that we are co-creating. These sessions focus on defining the "We," creating a shared purpose, and recognizing personal accountabilities to the "We" (sample of new addition to Participants' Manual).

  • Inclusion of "Integration Sessions" – based on repetitive feedback that people need time and space to digest their learning, we have created opportunities for each participant to make personal choices of how to enhance and distill their learning. During these sessions, the trainers do not offer any formal teachings or practices.

  • Removal of sessions on presentations, mediation, and training design. Until we develop a trainer track, we want the full resources of our training to concentrate on personal and group processes within the foundations and intermediate tracks.

In the summer of 2009, Jeff Brown joined the NVC Training Institute as an Associate Trainer and as Marketing Manager. Jeff lives in Columbus, Ohio, USA and is the Executive Director of Compassionate Communication of Central Ohio, an NVC nonprofit organization based in Columbus, OH.
